Luxury vinyl is low maintenance. Generally, all that's needed is regular sweeping and periodic mopping. The best option is to avoid abrasive cleaners and tools and only use manufacturer-approved cleaners
.
When in doubt, seek the advice of flooring experts. Follow these simple guidelines, and your luxury vinyl plank or tile will always look great.
First, develop a routine
Sweep daily if possible. Get under cabinets, appliances, and corners–anywhere dirt can hide.
Dirt and soil can scratch and embed, so get rid of them. Then vacuum once a week to pick up anything the sweeping missed.
Routine mopping
Clean your floors with a manufacturer-approved cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners and tools and avoid waxy, shine-promoting substances.
Or make your own! Combine one cup of apple cider or white wine vinegar with one-gallon hot water with a drop of dishwashing soap.
If the floor pits
Both vinyl plank and luxury vinyl tile are textured. If dirt isn't removed regularly or scratches, dirt will embed in any little crevices.
If that happens, drip some manufacturer-approved cleaner into the affected area. Make sure you read the directions for the mixing ratio, as some come in concentrated form.
Wait two or three minutes or so and wipe with a sponge mop. If that doesn't work, apply again, let it sit longer, and use a soft-bristled, non-abrasive brush.
Tough stains
Most vinyl plank (LVP) stains or LVT can be removed easily with a baking soda/water solution. Always seek the advice of a flooring expert before proceeding.
