Waterproof WPC: flooring for peace of mind

Waterproof WPC is the latest generation of luxury vinyl flooring. Rather than the traditional PVC composite core, this one has a Wood Plastic Composite (WPC) which gives it waterproof superpowers.

While you have the same style of luxury vinyl, with the same large assortment of colors, patterns, designs, and species, you now also have a WPC core. That core makes the vinyl a little thicker so, besides being waterproof, it is now ultra-durable and easily able to hide dents, rolls, and wrinkles in the subfloor.

While many think a waterproof floor is only necessary if they live in a storm-prone area, excess water and moisture can be created inside or outside the home, wreaking havoc by damaging electrical, plumbing, and heating systems, developing mold and mildew, and more.

Many times someone who experiences a leak or flood will also find nearby harm to other floorings, such as hardwood and carpets, as well as upholstery and other furnishings, especially when there's no WPC core.

Checkpoint Flooring is a leader in residential and commercial flooring. The 20-year-old company boasts a large inventory of, besides WPC, it also includes carpet, hardwood, laminate, luxury vinyl, and tile. Services, such as professional installation, carpet repair, tile cleaning, free estimates, and more, are also offered.

The company is located in Clearwater, FL, and services Tampa, St. Petersburg, Palm Harbor, and Safety Harbor.

Why you need waterproof flooring

Besides storms, you can get water damage by:

  • Bursting pipes and backed-up sinks and drain pipes. If they can't drain, and it's ignored, eventually it's going to affect the T-pipe in the plumbing system. The T-pipe will back up and, before soon, walls and ceilings will start to drip.
  • Older water heaters. They usually last around 10 years with a tank and up to 20 without one. Then it may start to leak. Another hint may be if you start to see rust, or if the water just doesn't seem to be as hot as it used to be.
  • Corroded washing machine hoses. You probably don't give the washer much thought, but a damaged supply hose or faulty connection could send out 600 gallons of liquid per hour. While you're at it, check the dishwasher. Any leakage could be from overloading, broken seals, or blocked drain hoses.
  • Damaged roofs with missing or damaged shingles.

Not all water damage is covered by insurance, and sometimes the liquid can be so contaminated that it can cause people to become ill. This is why everyone needs waterproofing with a WPC core.
